The 2021-2022 school year was one for the books!
I know that may come across a little sarcastic from a high school English teacher, but the past school year was a tough one. It was Year 7 for me and one that seemed to have a surprise around every corner of the calendar.
This weekend will mark ONE MONTH of being on Summer Break. Where did the time go? With this one month down, I thought I would share my approach to the summer and the inspiration for it.
As I was wrapping up the school year, I read Dave Stuart Jr.’s blog post titled “School Year Shutdown: Rest Your Best.” In the post, Dave asked his readers, “What would it look like for you to make this summer your absolute best summer of rest? Given your constraints — what’s realistic?”
Here’s my answer:

Taking Dave’s idea of resting, I thought about what would make my summer meaningful. Wishes to utilize the time provided to actually relax, evaluate, study, and tinker are what kept bubbling up in various ways.
The R.E.S.T. approach is not linear or order based. It is fluid and allows one to pick and choose how to incorporate within their day-to-day, week-to-week, or, even, month-to-month plans.
