Texts on My Mind This Week – November 12, 2021

This weekly post is a spot for me to list what texts have been tumbling around in my mind and share a few quick notes about each.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee

I’m rereading Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird in preparation for teaching it later this year to high school freshmen. The last time I read it, I was a high school freshman.

What Teachers Make: In Praise of the Greatest Job in the World – Taylor Mali

Taylor Mali’s “What Teachers Make” poem was an inspirational rally cry to me during my undergraduate studies and early teaching years, especially this recording. I recently finished his book (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) and would say its a “must read” for teachers all across the country.

The Martian – Andy Weir

This book has been on my TBR shelf for years. I’ve been getting into a reading groove and I thought that this one would be a good one to dust off and read. Science fiction isn’t a go-to genre for me, but I have been looking to read “something different” and this might do the trick.
